MULTAN – At least six people were killed while seven others were left injured after a bus and truck collided near Fatehpur early Wednesday, rescue sources reported.
Tragically, the injured included women and children who have been rushed to the Shaikh Zayed Medical Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan. Many of them are said to be in a precarious condition.
According to rescue sources, the accident took place on the National Highway close to Fatehpur Punjabian area.
The incident briefly halted the traffic, however, according to the Motorways Police, the route has been cleared for the routine flow of traffic.
According to preliminary investigations, the accident took place while saving a motorcyclist.
Traffic mishaps are rampant in Pakistan due to violations of safety guidelines and dilapidated roads. Punjab has proven to have the highest road accident deaths, followed by Sindh, KPK and Balochistan.
According to statistics, on average, 35% of the total road crashes in Pakistan on a daily basis were taking place in Punjab.
