Shehbaz Sharif's arrest is the first, more to follow: Fawad Chaudhry
ISLAMABAD - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain says the government is impartial in the arrest of former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif by the National Accountability Bureau.

Talking to state media during a visit to Pind Dadan Khan on Friday, he said NAB is an independent institution.

The minister said the government will provide the necessary administrative assistance to NAB in conducting the accountability.

He said people, who have looted the national kitty, should be held answerable, and detention of Shahbaz Sharif is an important development in this regard.

The minister said, "Shehbaz Sharif's arrest was the first, and more 'major' arrests are also expected in the coming days."

"PTI government has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. The process of accountability will move further," he added.

Fawad Chaudhry said, "NAB arrested Shehbaz Sharif in the case registered in their government tenure. There are allegations of over Rs 56 billion in the Aashiana Housing scheme and the anti-graft body arrested PML-N President over these charges."

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the process of accountability should move forward and people allegedly involved in other mega corruption scams should also be held accountable.

Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry has said that no decision has yet been made on placing the names of PML-N leaders Saad Rafique and Salman Rafique on ECL.
