Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti appointed new FPSC Chairman

ISLAMABAD – Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti has been picked for the role of chairman of Federal Public Service Commission.

A report shared by Daily Jang said the three star army officer will head federal agency responsible for recruiting civil servants and bureaucrats.

It said President Asif Ali Zardari approved appointment of Lt Gen Satti on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and he will assume the role after retiring. The coveted position of FPSC head was vacant for a year, preventing the Central Selection Board from convening during this time.

Lt Gen Satti is currently leading Multan Corps; his service is ending in November, while federal commission is expected to see renewed leadership and direction in its mission to oversee recruitment and public service examinations across Pakistan.

A recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Satti previously became chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). He also served as vice chief of General Staff at GHQ (Frontier Force).
