World reacts as North Korea claims it has successfully detonated Hydrogen Bomb

PYONGYANG (News Desk) – North Korea on Tuesday claimed that it has successfully carried out Hydrogen Bomb detonation, which caused a 5.1 magnitude earthquake as well.

“A successful Hydrogen Bomb test was performed at 10:00am on January 6, 2016 to include North Korea in the list of advanced nuclear states,” a statement at official TV channel said.

It further added that the Hydrogen Bomb test was aimed at enhancing the self defence capabilities against United States’ deadly nuclear weapons.


The Korean leader Kim Jong-un had signed the order for conducting the hydrogen bomb test on January 3, 2016.

World Reaction:

Reacting to the development, China expressed its grave concerns and said that the Hydrogen Bomb test would further worsen situation Korean Peninsula.

Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe also called the experiment a new threat to his country’s security. He said Japan will review its stance on nuclear non-proliferation policy as well.

Meanwhile South Korean president Park Geun-hye has also convened a top level meeting of national security officials to discuss the development.

United States Pacific Command also reacted to North Korea’s Hydrogen Bomb test saying ‘We remain vigilant’ in a statement.

The United Nations Security Council has also convened an emergency session following the announcement, to issue a formal reaction.

In a statement the White House spokesman said that there was no independent verification of the experiment however the United States will not allow North Korea to violate the directions of UNSC.
