QUETTA – Taking action under National Action Plan (NAP), authorities have suspended the registration of over 3,000 non-governmental organizations working in Balochistan province.
According to local media, the registration of 3,250 NGOs has been revoked after they failed to submit essential documents and due to their inactivity.
About 4,000 NGOs are registered with Balochistan government. Nearly 2,000 are registered with Department of Social Welfare, 1,900 with Department of Industries and Commerce.
These NGOs had been directed to submit their details for scrutiny under the national action plan but most of them did not reply.
As per reports, 1,601 NGOs registered with social welfare department did not submit the documents, while 1,650 NGOs registered with Industries department failed to respond.
Therefore, the authorities concerned taking action under the law suspended the registrations.
