ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Friday increased electricity prices under the quarterly and fuel price adjustments, while also approving a 37-paisa per unit reduction under the July monthly fuel charge adjustment.
According to a statement issued by Nepra, a Rs1.75 per unit increase has been approved under the quarterly adjustment, which has been forwarded to the federal government.
The statement further noted that this quarterly adjustment will be collected in the bills for September, October, and November.
The third quarterly adjustment of 0.93 rupees per unit for 2023-24 will end in August, and an additional 0.82 rupees per unit will be charged in the September bills under the quarterly adjustment.
Nepra also approved a 37-paisa per unit reduction under the July monthly fuel charge adjustment, following a hearing on the request held on August 28, 2024, and this relief will reflect in the September bills.
The statement added that the fuel charge adjustment for June was collected at an increase of 2.56 rupees in August bills. Therefore, in the September bills, there will be a 2.93 rupees per unit reduction in the fuel price adjustment, and combining both adjustments, consumers will receive a total relief of 2.11 rupees per unit in September.
