ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – After fleeing the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, Taliban chief Mullah Mohammed Omar took refuge in Karachi, disguising himself as a local potato trader, reported Miami Herald.
Quoting their sources in Pakistan intelligence and Taliban government, the US-based newspaper reported that Mullah Omar “worked among the vegetable purveyors in low-end marketplaces in crowded Karachi for three years”.
According to the report, Mullah Omar stopped all extremist activities and was not in contact with the Pakistan Taliban from fear of the Pakistan intelligence.
Meanwhile, Pakistan government has categorically denied the rumours that Mullah Omar had died in Karachi.
