Embattled Sharifs suffer another blow as Hassan, Hussain Nawaz placed on blacklist

ISLAMABAD – The names of former premier Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hassan and Hussain Nawaz have been placed on the blacklist, effectively barring the duo to travel on their Pakistani passports.

According to well-placed sources, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has requested the caretaker regime to put the names of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz on the Exit Control List (ECL) on which the caretaker cabinet has not passed a decision.

Another request had been submitted to the Passport Directorate, following which Hasan and Hussain’s passports were blocked in line with the restrictions of blacklisting.

Earlier, last week, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had contacted the headquarters of Interpol to request the issuance of red warrants for the arrest of Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, Geo news reported.

An accountability court in Islamabad had already issued perpetual warrants against the duo in the Avenfield Reference case after having declared them absconders.

Both Hassan and Hussain are based in London where they are tending to Kulsoom Nawaz who is suffering from Lymphoma.

On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are imprisoned in the Adiala jail owing to their convictions in the Avenfield Reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau.
