Accountability court summons Nawaz, Maryam and Captain (r) Safdar on Oct 13 for indictment

ISLAMABAD – The accountability court hearing the references filed by the National Accountability Bureau against members of Sharif family has summoned former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on October 13 for indictment.

In its short order, the court granted a single-day immunity to Nawaz Sharif for physical appearance but announced that it would indict Nawaz Sharif if he fails to appear on the next hearing day.

Moreover, Maryam Nawaz and her husband Captain (r) Safdar would also be indicted on the same day.

Besides, the court also issued perpetual arrest warrants for Hassan and Hussain Nawaz and also declared both the brothers absconders in a reference related to the posh London apartments.

Nawaz Sharif, who was disqualified from office on July 28th in the Panama papers case for concealing his employment with Capital FZE, appeared before the accountability court last Monday.

After the appearance that stirred a controversy owing to the Rangers deployment outside the court, Nawaz Sharif stayed for a few days in the country and then headed to London where his wife is undergoing treatment for lymphoma.

On Monday (today) Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar appeared before the accountability court and recorded their statements.

Captain (r) Safdar was presented by NAB officials as he was arrested after arriving in Islamabad late Sunday.
