KASUR – Muhammad Amin, the father of seven-year-old Zainab, who was raped and murdered earlier this week lambasted the police for their alleged negligence in tracing out the culprit in time to save his daughter’s life.
Talking to newsmen a day after the brutal murder sent shock waves across the country, Amin regretted that prompt action by the police could have saved his daughter but ‘the police showed negligence over the last five days’.
He continued that the law enforcers did not seal or watch the crime scene properly adding that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had assured him of catching the culprits soon.

To a query whether he recognised the man in the CCTV footage walking beside Zainab, Amin replied in the negative.
“But since the [suspect] was caught on tape then surely, in today’s age of technology the picture could have been optimised,” Ameen said.
Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif visited Zainab’s residence to pay his condolences. In his conversation with Zainab’s parents, Shehbaz promised not to rest until the culprit(s) responsible for the heinous crime is caught and punished.
The chief minister also constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) headed by Additional Inspector-General Abubakar Khuda Bakhsh. The JIT also includes officials from the Inter-Services Intelligence and the Intelligence Bureau.
