NADRA processing officer arrested in Sharbat Gula case

PESHAWAR – NADRA processing officer Amad Khan was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the connection of issuing fake CNIC to Afghan national Sharbat Gula and her family.

The ex-NADRA Assistant Director had been in hiding, as per FIA officials, however, he was arrested by the FIA on Friday morning from Gulbehar the area of Peshawar.
FIA produced the accused before the special court.

Later on, the special court extradited the accused to FIA on three days judicial remand.

Afghan National Sharbat Gula has already confessed to getting fake CNIC on the court.

While the accused Palwasha Afridi and Muhsan Ahsan nominated in the FIR are on interim bail.

It is vital to mention here that Sharbat Gula, who was known as the ‘Mona Lisa of Afghanistan’ as well as the ‘National Geographic girl’ became famous when a picture of her made the cover of a National Geographic magazine in 1985. She was photographed at a refugee camp in Pakistan and her eyes became the subject of much interest and intrigue around the world.

On Wednesday, she was deported from Pakistan to Afghanistan.
