Quaid s 69th death anniversary being observed today

LAHORE – The 69th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being observed today (Monday) with due solemnity across the country.

Quran Khawani and Fateha will be held at the Quaid’s Mazar while people of various walks of life will visit the mausoleum to lay floral wreaths and offer Fateha.

Pakistani media will broadcast special programs to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

In their message on Quaid’s death anniversay, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi urged the nation to come up for the development of the country, and stressed on the need to follow the principles of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

“The Quaid’s principles must be adhered to adequately counter all of today’s challenges,” said President Hussain on Sunday.

The President added, “September 11 is the day we pay homage to the memory of the Quaid and reaffirm our commitment to those principles of democracy, constitutionalism and egalitarianism that the Father of the Nation propagated throughout his life”.

Prime Minister Abbasi said: “We have to continue to strive to make our country a place where people live with freedom, dignity and honour, as envisioned by the Quaid.”

“As a statesman, the Quaid led the constitutional struggle that culminated in the creation of an independent homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent,” he said.
