Former PM Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy s son passes away in London

LONDON – Rashid Suhrawardy, the only son of former Pakistani prime minister Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, died of natural causes in London.

The heir of last prime minister of Undivided Bengal was 78 and passed away a few days ago. He is now under the care of a British coroner until he is buried.

Mr Suhrawardy received his education in the UK and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London following which he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He also played the part of Pandit Nehru in the film Jinnah.

Mr Suhrawardy was single and so left no direct heirs, but his closest relatives are Begum Shahida Jamil, Begum Naz Ashraf and Princess Sarvath El Hassan.

Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy was the leader of Awami League and briefly served as the 5th prime minister of Pakistan. He died in 1963.
