Newborn’s sensitive body part chopped off during circumcision at Waziristan hospital

PESHAWAR – Medical technicians accidentally cut a sensitive body part of an infant while performing circumcision at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Mirali, North Waziristan.

Reports said the deputy commissioner of the city has taken notice of the incident and formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter.

District Health Officer Dr. Miraj Wazir told local media that Wahidullah, a resident of Khisor Ali Khel in Mirali, had brought his newborn baby to the hospital for circumcision 20 days ago.

He stated that two technicians accidentally cut a sensitive part of the infant’s body in the operation theater.

He added that the issue came to light yesterday when the child’s father lodged a complaint with the district administration.

According to the District Health Officer, he has instructed the hospital’s Medical Superintendent to immediately suspend the two technicians involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner said the investigation committee, which also includes an assistant commissioner, will soon submit a report. He added that the responsible individuals will face punishment.
