DERA GHAZI KHAN – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said the people of Punjab are tired of ‘Takht-i-Lahore’.
Addressing a large gathering in Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday, the PTI chief also announced his intention to “try and build” a Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital in DG Khan.
Referring to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Khan said: “You will quickly be free from these people.”
“There is one law for the powerful but another for the common man… Young boys are educated in seminaries and can’t progress in life,” he added.
“We will build a ‘Naya Pakistan’ (New Pakistan) in which boys who receive education can go onto become prime minister,” he vowed.
“It is the government’s responsibility to give you social benefits as long as you are jobless,” he said.
The PTI chief briefed the audience on the Panama case and conducted an informal audience poll asking attendees whether they believed the prime minister would be proven guilty in the case.
The Imran Khan’s party, as part of its ongoing mass contact campaign on the Panamagate issue, will hold two more public meetings in Punjab by the end of this month.
According to a press release issued by the party yesterday, the PTI chairman will address a public gathering in Kasur on Jan 22 and another in Sahiwal on 29.
Khan, who was in Dera Ghazi Khan today, already spoke at a public meeting in Bahawalpur on Jan 8.
In a statement, PTI secretary general Jahangir Tareen said that Imran Khan had decided to escalate the mass contact campaign besides putting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) under pressure in the Supreme Court.
Tareen said that the PTI would intensify the drive after the Sahiwal gathering, adding that 2017 would be the year of change in Pakistan.
“Future will be of Pakistan and its 18 million people and the PML-N’s gang of liars have no right to lead such a great nation,” he added.
