A fuel tanker overturned and caught fire, resulting in the deaths of 147 people and injuring 50 others in Nigeria.
According to a foreign media, the incident occurred in Nigeria’s northern state of Jigawa.
Local police and rescue services reported that the driver lost control of the tanker, causing it to overturn and spill petrol, which later ignited.
A local police spokesperson stated that the tanker was traveling from Kano to the Yobe state. After the tanker overturned, nearby residents tried to collect the spilled petrol.
During this attempt, a fire erupted, engulfing the area and causing a significant loss of life.
Rescue officials confirmed that the deceased have been buried in a mass funeral.
