ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) dismissed one of the references filed against Supreme Court Judge Qazi Faez Isa on Monday.
The council – which oversees the conduct of judges of the superior judiciary – had initiated misconduct proceedings against the said judge for writing a letter to President Arif Alvi, however, it has dismissed the reference.
SJC wrapped up the reference after hearing the arguments presented by informant lawyer Waheed Shehzad Butt.
It said the Supreme Court judge was under stress when he forwarded a letter to the president owing to health condition of his father-in-law.

Moreover, the Supreme Judicial Council stated that the daughter of Qazi Faiz Isa was under mental strain after the reference was discussed on mainstream media.
It has been stated in the decision made by SJC that the informant failed to substantiate his allegation that Justice Isa, leaked the letter forwarded to the president, to media.
The Supreme Court judge is facing another reference regarding his offshore properties though the judge denies any wrongdoing in this regard as well; a decision on assets-related reference is pending.
