Over 40 per cent work at Kartarpur Corridor completed: ETPB

LAHORE – More than 40 per cent development work at Kartarpur Corridor has been completed so far, and the
corridor would be ready to be functional till November 2019.

Evacuee Trust Property Board Secretary, Tariq Wazir detailed the development work on the corridor for which the groundbreaking was performed last year by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The official disclosed that special forensic audit of the ETPB for three years (2016 to 2018) had been started on the order of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He continued that the audit was based on 29 points in which
detail of property, land, leasing process, court cases, dues
and other details were included.

The secretary said that a direction had been issued to different
ETPB zones including Eastern Zone, Gujranwala, Nankana Sahib, Western Zone Faisalabad, Northern Zone Rawalpindi, Central Zone Multan and Southern Zone Karachi for the provision of all relevant record.

An audit objection on two meetings in a month and expenditures on these meetings by former chairman Siddiqul Farooq had been pointed out, added Wazir.

The Kartarpur corridor would ease access to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib – one of the holiest places for Sikh community where their spiritual leader Baba Guru Nanak spent his last 18 years.

The Kartarpur corridor is expected to be completed this year on Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary.
