ISLAMABAD – Turkish Consul General in Pakistan Tolga Ucak Tuesday announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit the country next month.
The official highlighted that Erdogan would formally make the investment-related announcement during the visit.
The Consul General made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Turkish Electrical Electronics and Services Exporters’ Association of (TET) sartorial B2B meetings between Turkish and Pakistani businessmen.
Ucak said that Turkey had an unbreakable bond with Pakistan which would only grow stronger with the passage of time adding that Turkey favoured a balanced trade with Pakistan.
Turkey would extend all cooperation in the defence sector as well as play its due role in the promotion of technology and trade with its brotherly state of Pakistan, Turkish CG said.
He said the Turkish government was fully interested in projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), adding that Turkish authorities were already in talks with Pakistan’s side for participation in these projects.
Tolga Ucak said that total trade turnover of Turkey was $200
billion, and balanced trade between the two countries would largely benefit Pakistan and increase its exports.
“We wish that Pakistan’s SME sector should grow, which is the prime employment generator in an economy,” he added.
The visit comes weeks after Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman visited Pakistan for two days, signing MoUs worth $20b for setting up an oil refinery in Gwadar and other agreements related to energy and petrochemicals.
Besides Erdogan, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad is also expected to visit Pakistan and take part in Pakistan Day celebrations on March 23rd.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had invited Mahathir to the celebrations.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had met the Turkish President during his official two-day tour last month.
Addressing a joint news conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara, Imran Khan said that Pakistan wants to learn from Turkey’s experience in housing, health, and education sectors for the benefit of public.
