KARACHI – Few days after two Lashkar-e-Jhangvi terrorists escaped from Karachi Central Jail, security forces carried out search operation in the jail that led to the recovery of huge cache of prohibited items from barracks, local media reported.
In 12-hour long operation, Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) checked barracks of all inmates, especially those belong to banned outfit.
The Dawn news reported that officials have recovered mobile phones, air coolers, knife-cutters, freezers, stoves, DVD players and LED TVs in large quantities.
A video of the search operation depicts the scale to which prisoners had made their lives easier to despite behind bars.
Terrorists Escaped
On June 15, Two high profile terrorists of banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi easily escaped from Karachi’s central jail.
The two under trial prisoners named Sheikh Muhammad Mumtaz alias Firon and Ahmed Khan alias Munna involved in sectarian killing and many other cases.
The incident happened when both militants were presented in the judicial complex adjacent to the central jail.
The Counter Terrorism Department had arrested them in 2013 following charges of target killing, including within the Shia community.
Following the negligence of officials, 12 police officials including the jail superintendent and deputy jail superintendent were arrested on the order of Minister for Law & Prisons, Sindh, and a case was also registered against them.
