CM Sindh suggests staging sit-in outside PM House against power outages

KARACHI – Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has suggested all political parties stage a sit-in outside the Prime Minister House in Islamabad over prevailing power shortages woes in the province.

Talking to newsmen alongside Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rahman in Karachi on Thursday, the Chief Minister wondered what results could be achieved by staging a sit-in outside the Chief Minister’s House, claiming that he had already brought all the issues into public knowledge.

“All [these] tactics are a conspiracy to end provincial autonomy,” the Sindh CM declared.

Shah was of the opinion that it was the responsibility of the K-Electric to supply electricity to Karachi, adding that he had also warned the KE representatives.

“When the issue of load-shedding turned serious, [we] approached the prime minister, but he cares not what is happening with Karachi populace,” Shah lamented.

Meanwhile, Hafiz Naeem expressed that neither does the centre do anything nor the Sindh government, when it comes to K-Electric, Geo News reported.

The JI Karachi leader said they would compel the power producer to generate electricity using furnace oil adding that the party had given a strike call for April 27.

The politician continued that a sit-in against load-shedding would be staged outside the Karachi Press Club as well.

Let it be known that Karachiites have been complaining about the burgeoning power outages on social media.

On Thursday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) declared K-Electric responsible for prolonged outages in the metropolis, requesting the federal government not only to provide gas to the power producing utility but also take action against it.
