West Indies women seal T20 series against India

MUMBAI – West Indies women’s cricket team defeated India in the second T20 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series at the Dr. Gokaraju Liala Gangaaraju-ACA Cricket Ground here on Sunday.

“Chasing a target of 138, the Indian women were bundled out for 106 in 18.1 overs”, Indian media reported.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian side, having limited the West Indies to 137, suffered from an early batting slump and their innings eventually folded with the loss of the last six wickets for 33 runs.

The Indian skipper was the top scorer with 43 runs against her name. Besides Harmanpreet, only two other Indian batswomen could score more than 15 runs.

For the West Indies, Anisa Mohammed and Deandra Dottin were the pick of the bowlers as they took three wickets each.

Put in to bat first, West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor’s unbeaten 47 anchored the innings and they eventually reached a respectable score of 137.

The two sides will now lock horns in the inconsequential third and final match on Tuesday.
