Pakistan, Bosnia agree to take bilateral cooperation, trade to new heights
SARAJEVO - Pakistan and Bosnia have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas ranging from agriculture, textile, defense, power sector and infrastructure development.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is on a three-day visit to Bosnia Herzegovina, held bilateral talks with his Bosnian counterpart Mr. Denis Zivizdic (Chairman of the Council of Ministers).

Addressing a  joint press conference after the talks in Sarajevo on Wednesday, the Pakistani premier thanked his Bosnian counterpart for extending the invitation to visit Bosnia and the warm welcomed he received here, stressing such visits impart momentum to bilateral ties.

PM Nawaz Sharif highlighted that two leaders discussed power sector issues and crises faced by Pakistan highlighting the huge potential in hydro and coal power that Bosnia offers.

The huge infrastructure development being carried out in Pakistan including highways and motorways was also discussed.

Chairman Zivizdic invited Pakistan to attend the agriculture exhibition to be held in the Baltic country in March. PM Nawaz thanked Chairman Zivizdic for the invitation and promised to send a Pakistani delegation in March to attend the exhibition and explore the trade opportunities between two countries in the sector.

Signing of an MOU between Bosnia and Pakistan to abolish visa requirement for diplomatic and official passports was also announced at the joint presser.

Chairman Zivizdic also accepted PM Nawaz's invitation to visit Pakistan. He announced that two countries have also agreed to establish a joint commission to explore trade and business opportunities between the two countries and, to oversee the effective implementation of measures and decisions taken in this regard.

During the bilateral talks, Bosnian representatives supported Pakistan's view of peaceful resolution of all disputes with India including Kashmir. PM Nawaz extended his good wishes and full support to Bosnia in its bid for inclusion in EU and WTO.

The PM informed his Bosnian counterpart that Pakistan has effectively tackled terrorism in Pakistan and has eliminated terrorist organizations like TTP and Al-Qaeda from the country.

Nawaz Sharif reached Bosnia-Herzegovina on a three-day official visit on Tuesday. He was received by Bosnian Minister for Transport and Communication Ismir Jusko at the Sarajevo International Airport.

Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and PM’s Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi accompanied the prime minister.

Earlier, on his arrival at the PM office, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was accorded red carpeted welcome. The Bosnian leader personally received Nawaz Sharif. On the occasion, guard of honor was also presented to the prime minister.

Pakistani rupee exchange rate against US dollar, Euro, Pound and Riyal - 29 Feb 2024

Pakistani rupee remains stable against US dollar in the open market on February 29, 2024 (Thursday).

US Dollar rate in Pakistan

In the open market, the US dollar was being quoted at 279.1 for buying and 282.35 for selling.

Euro currently stands at 303 for buying and 306 for selling while British Pound rate stands at 352 for buying, and 355.5 for selling.

UAE Dirham AED hovers at 76 whereas the Saudi Riyal saw slight increase, with new rates at 74.3.
