On the opening day of the IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championship 2024, held in Mongolia, Pakistan’s snooker players Asjad Iqbal and Awais Muneer impressed with stellar performances, each securing crucial wins in their respective matches.
The championship, featuring 40 players from across the globe, has divided participants into 10 groups. The top two players from each group will advance to the knockout stages.
Asjad Iqbal displayed exceptional form as he comfortably defeated Mongolia’s Ulziitog Davaasuren 4-1. His outstanding gameplay included two impressive breaks of 75, with frame scores of 18-50, 0-75, 0-82, 0-73, and 0-64.
Awais Muneer also made a strong impact with a determined comeback, beating Mongolia’s Mendsaikhan Erden 4-2. Despite losing the first two frames, Owais rallied with remarkable precision to clinch the match. His frame scores were 0-64, 20-45, 0-54, 10-54, 21-53, and 15-46.
Looking ahead, Asjad will face India’s Pandurangiah on the second day of the tournament, while Awais will take on Singapore’s Jia Jun Ong. Later in the evening, Asjad will go head-to-head with Iraq’s Ali Jalil Ali, and Awais will challenge Israel’s Shachar Ruberg.
The knockout stage begins on September 22, with the top 20 and last 16 matches scheduled. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held on September 24, leading to the final showdown on September 25.
