Karachi Court Issues Arrest Warrant Against Sahil Adeem

KARACHI – A judicial magistrate in Karachi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against social media influencer Sahil Adeem in a defamation case.

Judicial Magistrate (South) Sher Muhammad issued the warrants after the investigating officer, Waqar Ahmed, submitted a final charge sheet against the YouTuber.

The charges against the accused include Section 153 of the Pakistan Penal Code (promoting enmity between different groups), Section 505(1)(c) (with intent to incite), and Section 500 (punishment for defamation), as well as Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (recording evidence in the absence of the accused).

The case was registered against Sahil Adeem following a complaint filed by Advocate Abdul Fattah on July 12, which claimed that Adeem had hurt the sentiments of the Sindhi community.

The complaint stated that Sahil Adeem made controversial remarks against Sindhis in one of his videos and mocked them.

The complainant also alleged that Adeem attempted to incite conflict between Sindhis and Punjabis.

On the other hand, Sahil Adeem had obtained 15-day protective bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in July against a bond of 20,000 rupees.

The investigating officer informed the magistrate that although the IHC had directed him to approach the competent court in Karachi, Adeem still failed to cooperate in the investigation or appear before the relevant court.

It is recalled that PPP legislator Marvi Sirmed submitted a resolution in the Sindh Assembly Secretariat against Sahil Adeem for allegedly making derogatory remarks against women during a TV show discussion.
