President Mamnoon to lead Pakistani delegation at SCO meeting in Tashkent

ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – President Mamnoon Hussain will lead a top level Pakistani delegation at the meeting of the Heads of States Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Tashkent.

The Council meeting is set to begin on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the foreign office in Islamabad, Pakistan was invited to start the process of becoming full SCO member at the Heads of State Council meeting held in Ufa, Russia in July of last year.

Pakistan is expected to sign the ‘Memorandum of Obligations’ at Tashkent, which will be major step towards the country becoming a full member of the SCO.

SCO is an important organization founded in Shanghai in 2001. Its member- states include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
