LAHORE – Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) chairman, Dr Umar Saif, has revealed that the board not only helped in digitalizing and revamping the government departments in Punjab, but also extended services to other provinces as well.
The tech genius took to Twitter on Wednesday and explained that he avoids sharing the institutional support offered to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, so the public should not perceive it as a point scoring stunt.
Saif, who serves as an advisor to the Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, revealed that in fact, KPK outpowered any other province in terms of assistance it received from PITB.

He continued that the violence-battered province was aided in realms of police system and counter-terrorism under the chair of former provincial police chief Nasir Khan Durrani while the technology board also aided the vaccination programs in the province.
To bolster his claims, the Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University also shared a few pictures.
Not only the KPK province was obliged by Punjab’s technology board, but the Sindh province, ruled by Pakistan Peoples Party also enlisted the support of the state-of-the-art facility.

Pakistan’s youngest PhD revealed that the record of Sindh police was also digitalized and was linked with that of the Punjab police.
Upon a query that whether the services were provided free of cost to Sindh, Saif replied in the affirmative.

The PITB is an autonomous body set up by the government of Punjab and provides the foundation for Punjab’s innovation economy. The board aims at not only modernizing the governance techniques through transparency induced methods but also at increasing the digital literacy of the citizens among many other services.
Dr Umar Saif is credited with revitalizing different arenas of Punjab, by heading the department since November 2011.
