KP-style police reforms to be introduced in Punjab: CM Buzdar

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Saturday said that reforms in the police of the country’s largest province will be brought on the lines of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.

“Punjab police will see reforms on the pattern of KP,” the newly-elected chief minister of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said during a meeting with tribal elders of Dera Ghazi Khan.

A change in the attitude of the police personnel will be brought pushing them to serve the public, Buzdar said.

He vowed to eliminate the crimes in the provinces, adding that all resources will be utilised to protect the money of citizens.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the journey towards Naya Pakistan has started, he said, adding that the PTI will fulfil its commitment made to the nation during the election campaign.

He also pledged to provide the due rights to the people of South Punjab.

PM Imran Khan has also been commended the “professional” performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police at different occasion before the elections and vowed to implement them across the country.

Acting Governor Punjab and Speaker Assembly Pervez Elahi administered the oath-taking ceremony.

PTI nominee Sardar Usman Buzdar was elected for the slot of Punjab chief minister on Sunday with 186 votes in the house of 371, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’ (PML-N) candidate Hamza Shehbaz stood second with 159 votes for the province’s most coveted post.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Parvez Elahi announced Buzdar’s victory.
