TEHRAN (News Desk) – As economic sanctions have been lifted after landmark nuclear deal, the Iranian president Hassan Rouhani Monday began his officials trip to Europe to rebuild ties broken since 1999.
Rouhani is first Iranian president to visit Europe, which was Tehran’s largest trade market till 1999, in last sixteen years.
According to a statement, the president will Monday reach Rome, Italy, where he is expected to meet prime minister Matteo Renzi. He will also hold an extensive meeting with Pope Francis at Vatican city.
After Italy, Rouhani will reach Paris, France, where he will greeted by President Francois Hollande. The Iranian president is scheduled to hold bilateral dialogue with French president on Thursday.
During his stay in France Hasan Rouhani will also hold meetings with Medef’s president, who represents a regional group of enterprises based in France, and other leading businessmen.
Meanwhile media reports suggest that Tehran is preparing to buy as many as 114 new Boeing aircraft, during the trip.
Several members of President Rouhani’s cabinet, including the oil minister, Bijan Zanganeh, are also accompanying the him during the historic visit.
