Lord’s Test: Pakistan cricketers get ICC warning for wearing smart watches

KARACHI – An official of International Cricket Council’s (ICC) anti-corruption cell has issued a warning to Pakistani players for wearing smart watches while playing the match.

The official took notice on Thursday after two players – Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam – were appeared to be wearing the watches on the opening day of the first Test at Lord’s in England.

As the Pakistan team returned to the dressing room after bowling England out in first innings, the ICC’s anti-corruption officer met the tourists and advised them not to wear the watches next time on the field.

The ICC has placed no ban on such watches, but these fell under the category of communication devices which are capable of transmitting text or voice messages and functioning like a phone.
