Modi playing war hysteria to hide Kashmir resistance movement: Bilawal Bhutto

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Tuesday that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was playing war hysteria to keep the eyes of the world off from the movement of Kashmiri people.

Bilawal Bhutto while condemning the Indian war hysteria and aircrafts intrusion across the LoC said that Indian rulers have become threat for the peace of the region.

‘The enemies of peace cannot be sympathiser of the humanity,’ he said and added that the nation stood by the country’s armed forces and will fight against war frenzy India.

Tension between Pakistan and India escalated after Indian Air Force violated the Line of Control in the wee hours of Tuesday and claimed to have targeted the alleged camp of militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in the Balakot area near the Line of Control; however, Pakistan has denied any such attack.

The alleged strikes – which are still to be verified – have escalated tension between the two nuclear-armed neighbours as Pakistan’s armed forces have announced that Pakistan will respond against Indian aggression in a befitting and surprising manner.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan convened a meeting of the National Security Committee in the aftermath of surgical strike reports and made it clear that Pakistan will respond to Indian aggression at time and place of its choosing.

The NSC meeting, chaired by the premier in the wake of India’s violation of the Line of Control (LoC), was attended by the top civil and military leadership, including Army Chief General Qamar Jawed Bajwa and ministers of defence and foreign affairs.

The committee, according to a statement read out by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a press conference in Islamabad, “strongly rejected Indian claim of targeting an alleged terrorist camp near Balakot as well as the claim of heavy casualties”.

The tension stemmed out from the Pulwama attack in India-occupied Kashmir in which over 40 Indian soldiers were left dead. India pinned blame on Pakistan for the attack without any evidence in this regard.
