ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) Absar Alam has said that people were losing confidence in in media and we need to restore it.
Talking to representatives of electronic and print media, the chairman expressed that he was being pressurized to ban some television channels but he would not do so.
Absar clarified that the authority does not bar criticism but it could not allow verbal abuse on television channels. He went on to say that fines would increase to the tune of one crore thirty-five lacs next month but we try not to increase the frequency of punishments so much.

He maintained that PEMRA intends to make media responsible.
