LAHORE – National Security Adviser Lt Gen (r) Nasser Khan Janjua Thursday called on the ousted prime minister and the president of ruling PML-N, Nawaz Sharif, at the Sharif family’s palace in Raiwind.
The meeting was also attended by Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her daughter’s father-in-law, Sheikh Munir.
They discussed counter-terrorism operations, regional security situation and the ongoing regional peace process.
In the meeting, which lasted around five hours, it was emphasised during the meeting that conflicts were never known to resolve matters, with the deposed PM highlighted that he always preferred to talk about peace and love.
Nawaz was briefed about the national security and regional situation by Janjua. The PML-N president stressed for friendly and peaceful relations with the neighbouring states, saying that conflicts with other states would not resolve the regional conflicts and suggested to promote peace as an alternative.
Janjua told him that all institutions were united for the protection of national security. He affirmed that the international community should appreciate the sacrifices of Pakistan in the war on terror. He also briefed Nawaz on the national security situation and discussed the future prospects in this connection.
