Police to seal these points in twin cities as PTI gears up for protest today

ISLAMABAD – Police have decided to completely seal off 9 locations in Islamabad and 25 in Rawalpindi as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is set to hold a protest in the garrison city today (Saturday).

In Rawalpindi, areas including Faizabad Interchange, Kacha Stop, Gulzar-e-Quaid, Shamsabad, Faizabad, IJP Road, Double Road, Kattarian Bridge, Pandora Chowk, and Khanna Bridge will be sealed.

In Islamabad, locations including T Chowk, Korral, Khanna, Faizabad, IJP Junction, 26 Number, Golra Mor, B-17, and Margalla Cut on GT Road will be completely sealed.

All routes will be blocked using containers, dumpers, loaded trucks, and barbed wire.

Reports said that over 4,000 officers and personnel with anti-riot equipment will be deployed in Rawalpindi, and additional forces will be stationed at 31 different locations. At each checkpoint, one DSP and two SHOs will be deployed along with their teams.

To assist the Punjab Police, the Elite Force and patrolling units will be provided with anti-riot gear, while the Islamabad police will be responsible for maintaining law and order and arresting PTI protestors.

The DIG Operations, SSP Operations, SP, and SDPOs of Islamabad, along with SHOs from all local police stations, will be present in the field.

Meanwhile, Section 144 has been imposed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, prohibiting gatherings of four or more people. Police officials have been instructed to take no leniency with individuals causing disturbances to law and order and to arrest them immediately.

Reports also said that services of the metro bus and mobile phones would remain suspended on Saturday (today) in twin cities.
