ATHENS (News Desk) – Reacting to United States’ move to install its missile shield in Romania and Poland, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the both countries could become central targets of of Moscow’s missiles for hosting what he considers to be a threat to Russia’s security.
Addressing a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Athens, the Russian president went on to warn that his country would have to carry out “certain” actions against Romania and Poland, in the wake of this latest development.
He further added that Russia would take any step to ensure its security, avoiding to specify the possible steps his country would take against Romania and Poland.
He, however, made it clear that Moscow will not take any step until rockets are installed in areas close to Russian borders, insisting that they wont take first step.
Responding to a question, Putin dismissed the rhetoric that the missile system was aimed at defense against Iran, saying that an international accord has been reached with Iran on its nuclear program.
He maintained that Russia considers the missile systems as a direct threat to its security, as these missiles will form the shield that can easily reach Russian cities.
We have been repeatedly raised our concerns however nobody wants to hear us and conduct negotiations with us, he said.
