Malik Riaz rubbishes speculations over meeting with Nawaz

LAHORE – Malik Riaz, a property tycoon, whose meeting with deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif fueled speculations of a NRO-like deal, on Friday rejected all such conspiracy theories.

He also criticised the fuss created by the media after his meeting with Nawaz and visiting Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, adding that, he did not have any political motivation, agenda or role.

On Thursday, Bahria Town chairman, who is considered to be very close to PPP’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, called on former premier and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif after which the media reported that both brothers have asked Riaz to use his influence and play role for a NRO-like deal to defuse the tension faced by them these days.

Malik Riaz, today, took to Twitter, and said: “All speculations on meeting NS are incorrect.I don’t carry pol. baggage of anyone&don’t ve any pol.motivations,agenda or role whatsoever”.

He further tweeted that he had visited Begum Kulsoom to inquire about her health following Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH), adding that he “should not be questioned for ulterior motive”.

The meeting came days after an accountability court ordered the indictment of the former Prime Minister on October 2 in three corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
