ISLAMABAD – Road travel on highways and motorways become more expensive as National Highway Authority jacked up toll taxes by around 30 percent from October 1.
Those who are traveling on Islamabad to Peshawar Motorway (M-1) in cars pay Rs460 as compared to a previous tax of Rs350, while larger vehicles will also face increases: wagons will see their toll rise from Rs550 to Rs720 and buses from Rs1,000 to Rs1,300.
For heavy traffic vehicles, truck tolls have been increased from Rs1,500 to Rs1,950.
In recent announcement, NHA said toll tax on Lahore to Abdul Hakeem motorway (M-3), Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad (M-4), the M-5, Dera Ismail Khan to Hakla (M-14), and the Mansehra Expressway has been jacked up.

On national highways, the new tolls will also see significant adjustments. The toll for cars will rise from Rs40 to Rs50, wagons will be charged Rs90, buses Rs170, and two- and three-axle trucks Rs210. For articulated trucks, the new toll will be set at Rs460.
Islamabad to Murree Kohala Highway on N-75, and Mianwali to Muzaffargarh route on N-135, will also implement these revised rates.
The toll taxes were revised to garner additional revenue to support the maintenance and development of Pakistan’s road infrastructure.
