ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan decided on Monday to review the performance of all ministries and division every three months to keep an eye on the direction of policies.
The premier announced the decision during an around 9-hour-long cabinet meeting called to evaluate the performance of the ministries during the first three months of the PTI government.
Reports from all the ministries and divisions were presented to the prime minister at the meeting.
“Discussions on actions already taken in terms of service delivery, austerity measures adopted and future plans were held in each case with a view how to improve performance under each of these heads further,” said a statement issued from the PM’s office.
“It was decided that each ministry would be further tasked with a specific strategic plan for implementation, spread over five years so that all concerned work in tandem for optimum output.”
Such review meetings would be held every three months to evaluate the performance of the ministries and take new measures according to the situation.
The review meetings will also ensure the overall performance of the government is on track — the main aim of which is improving the quality of life of Pakistani citizens, the statement added.
During the hour-long meeting, the prime minister reviewed the performance of 26 ministries while a new date will be announced to evaluate the performance of the remaining ministries.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry talking to a private news channel said that the premier appreciated the performance of Murad Saeed, Minister of State for Communications and Minister of State for Postal Services.
PM Imran has said that Saeed will be made a federal minister, he added.
