NEW DELHI – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visibly seemed perturbed over the delay in securing Rafale aircraft days after Pakistan Air Force impressed the BJP leader with its spectacular combat capacity.
In his address at the India Today conclave on Saturday, the Indian premier admitted that the country suffered ‘a big loss’ due to the policy of self-interest and the politics surrounding the deal with France.
“The country is feeling the absence of Rafale. The entire country is saying in one voice today, what all could have happened if we had Rafale,” Modi highlighted in his address.

India and France had inked a multi-billion dollar deal for the Rafale aircraft, however, Modi’s arch-rival Indian National Congress (INF) claims that the prices of the fighter jets were inflated for favouring few individuals.
After Modi’s admission of ‘different outcomes’, Rahul Gandhi, the president of INC fired a broadside at him and pinned blame on him for the Rafale deal delay.

Pakistan Air Force trounced Indian Air Force in aerial combat on Wednesday as JF-17 thunder jets shot down two Indian MiG-21 aircraft – the debris of one was found in Pakistan while the other one in India.
The clash came a day after India violated the Line of Control and dropped payload at Balakot area in Pakistan though it claimed to have carried out a surgical strike; Pakistan contended that the so-called strike targeted few pine trees contrary to claims made by New Delhi.
In a bid to claim superiority over Pakistan Air Force, India claimed to have shot down F-16 fighter jet, however, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations clarified that Pakistan did not even use the said aircraft in its operation.

The Rafale deal delay between India and France is believed to be owing to allegations of kickbacks. Indian National Congress alleges that the deal was remodified owing to vested interests to provide undue benefit to Reliance Defence, a company owned by industrialist Anil Ambani.
Nonetheless, Indian Premier Narendra Modi seems to be highly impressed by the capacity and competitiveness of Pakistan Air Force, which not only thwarted the attack but also captured Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan alive.
Abhinandan was provided medical aid by Pakistan Army and Prime Minister Imran Khan announced to set him free as a gesture of peace following which he was handed over to the Indian authorities on Friday.
Tension between Pakistan and India escalated following the Pulwama attack in Indian occupied Kashmir for which New Delhi pinned blame on Islamabad without any evidence.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has repeatedly asked his Indian counterpart to initiate dialogue instead of confrontation, however, the sane suggestion seems to be falling on deaf ears.
