ISLAMABAD – Five suspected terrorists were apprehended in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mansehra, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Tuesday.
The IBO, which came as part of Operation Raddul Fasaad, was jointly conducted by security forces and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), according to the ISPR.
Those arrested included two important terrorists and three accomplices were involved in sabotage activities, the statement read.
They were said to be involved in targeting police and military convoys, target killing of law enforcement personnel and an attack on an Imambargah.
On January 11 this year, at least two terrorists were killed in Balochistan by the Pakistan Army.
According to the ISPR, intelligence-based operations were conducted on suspected terrorist hideouts in the areas of Kalat, Kharan and Maiwand as part of the on-going operation Radd ul Fassad by the Frontier Corps (FC).
Weapons and ammunition including sub-machine guns (SMGs), improvised explosives devices (IEDs), mines, rocket-propelled grenades (RPG) and communication equipment was also recovered.
In a separate operation in January, at least one terrorist was killed by security forces during an IBO in North Waziristan.
