Delhi Crime will give you sleepless nights and here is why

LAHORE –  A seven-episode Netflix series, Delhi Crime, now wants us to believe that the Delhi Police did all it could to solve the grave crime of gangrape of December 16th, 2012, as its over-stretched, over-worked personnel arrested all six accused in the case within five days.

However, the crime that shook India was an eye opener. The Nirbhaya case was one that made emotions run high as she was treated like anything but human. It caught media’s attention immediately.

The bus on which the rape occurred was driven reportedly by an unlicensed driver and remained undisturbed by officers of the law.

“In 2013, when all of it was very recent, I thought it wasn’t appropriate to make a film on the Nirbhaya case. The verdict had just come out, and I happened to be in India when the incident took place in December 2012,” says Richie Mehta, 40, director of the recent web show Delhi Crime. The seven-episode series, which started streaming on Netflix over the weekend, is a fictionalised dramatisation of the 2012 Delhi gangrape case.

The show will give you sleepless nights as it will raise anxiety levels due to the topic of the show which is based on a true event.

However, the focus should be more on Nirbhaya and less on the cops.
