ISLAMABAD – United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with School of Leadership will organize an event on April 29 at Aiwan-e-Quaid Auditorium in F-9 Park to celebrate the achievement of the Red Code team and to encourage youth in Pakistan to participate in such initiatives that promote youth empowerment.
The Red Code: a team comprising three young Pakistani girls, Sara Farooq Khan, Sana Farooq Khan and Mahin Usman, was recently declared to be among the winners of the Generation Unlimited Global Youth Challenge launched by the UNICEF, a press release issued here on Sunday.
The Generation Unlimited Global Youth Challenge was launched by UNICEF in October 2018. It invited young people globally to present innovative solutions to the problems affecting their lives.
A total of 32 teams from 16 countries participated in the Challenge and presented their ideas. The team from Pakistan is one of the five winners, along with teams from Thailand, Zimbabwe, Sudan and North Macedonia.
The challenge was initially held at the country level, where participating countries followed individual themes highlighting the issues faced by their youth. Pakistan called for innovative solutions and ideas around Menstrual Hygiene Management – as many adolescent girls in the country miss school every month due to lack of knowledge and access to proper facilities and supplies for hygienic management of menstruation.
