Peshawar tea stall owner arrested for chaining minor son

PESHAWAR – A man was arrested for chaining his minor son at a teashop in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s capital, days after the heart-rending photo of the boy went viral on the internet.

The officials of Chamkani police station Peshawar recovered the minor boy identified as Muhamamd Irshad and arrested his father Sardar Khan on Friday.

The father was produced before court of judicial magistrate Hameedullah Khan, who sent him to prison.

The minor boy was later handed over to his family members, including his elder brother and an uncle, who pledged that the boy would not be treated badly again.

The pictures of the boy stumped the internet this week showing one of his legs in chains while he was doing some chores at a small teashop in Nasirpur area of the city.

The social media users were shell-shocked after getting to know that the boy was chained by his own father.

Sardar Khan was booked under section 107 of CrCP, which pertains  to committing a breach of public tranquility; the court can set Sardar Khan free after submission of surety bonds.
