UNITED NATIONS – Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyanskiy has stressed settling the Kashmir issue bilaterally by India and Pakistan on the basis of Simla Agreement, Lahore declaration, in accordance with UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions.
In a series of tweets on Friday, the envoy said Russia continues to consistently promote normalization of Ind0-Pak ties.
“We hope that existing divergences around Kasmir will be settled bilaterally by political and diplomatic means only,” he shared.

Polyanskiy said Moscow is friends and good partners with both India and Pakistan and people from these countries.
“We have no hidden agendas. So we will open-heartedly continue to engage with Islamabad and New Delhi in order to help both of them come to terms and have good neighborly relations,” he said.

The remarks came days after India revoked the special status of Kashmir by scrapping article 370 and 35A of the constitution following which a session of United Nations Security Council was convened.
