Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets Saturday for Muharram moon sighting

KARACHI – The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in connection with sighting of Muharram-ul-Haram moon will be held in the Sindh capital on Saturday.

Chairman of the committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman will preside over the meeting.

The meeting of Zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees will also be held for collecting evidence in respect of sighting of the Muharram moon.

Meanwhile, law enforcement departments and district administrations have finalized security arrangements to maintain law and order situation during the holy month.

Huge number of police and levies forces will be deployed to ensure foolproof security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident during Muharram.

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. This is the often called the month of remembrance and is the holiest month after Ramazan. The 10th day of Muharram is known as the Day of Ashura; this day commemorates the death of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Imam Hussain ibn Ali and his family and companions at the Battle of Karbala.
