KARACHI (Web Desk) – Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), on Friday advised the Sindh government to immediately establish a “counter terrorism force” to curtail the brewing insecurity in the province.
The former president, while heading a meeting, stressed that the provincial government needed to march along with the federal government to fully implement the National Action Plan. Females should also be recruited in the proposed anti-terrorism squads, he opined.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Interior Minister Manzoor Wassan and top officials of law-enforcement agencies were also present in the meeting.
The first batches of counter-terrorism forces (CTF) have been formed by the provincial governments of Punjab and Balochistan this month.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif attended the passing-out parades, where he had stressed upon the other two provinces to establish such specialized forces to speed up the fight against terrorism.
