Non-bailable arrest warrant issued against interior minister Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD – A local court in Rawalpindi issued non-bailable warrants of arrest on Saturday against Interior Minister and senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah.

Reports in local media said a judicial magistrate issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Interior Minister over his non-appearance in an anti-corruption inquiry.

Senior Civil Judge Ghulam Akbar maintained that the PML-N stalwart was nominated in case and his arrest is necessary, so non-bailable arrest warrants of the accused may be issued.

The order issued by him stated, “Records reflect that contention of the investigating office is genuine, hence, the same is accepted in the interest of justice and non-bailable arrest warrants of the accused namely Rana Sanaullah is issued accordingly”.

“Records reflect that contention of the investigating officer is genuine, hence, the same is accepted in the interest of justice and non-bailable arrest warrants of the accused namely Rana Sanaullah is issued accordingly,” the order stated.

Some reports further claimed that law enforcers rushed to arrest Sanaullah, however no official commented on the matter.

Earlier, an official of the Directorate General Anti-Corruption told a publication that warrants have been issued as PML-N leader failed to appear in the anti-corruption inquiry despite being summoned several times.

Delving into details, the spokesperson revealed that SanaUllah has been accused of purchasing two farmhouses at the a housing scheme located in Kallar Kahar at a price lower than the scheduled rate, saying the plots were given to his wife as ‘bribe’.
