An Insight into the Fashion Pakistan Week 2015 (28th November – 30th November)

Fashion Pakistan Week 2015 has came to an end after all that craziness and hustle behind the stage and struggle to make it work on ramp. Fashion Pakistan Week was a three days journey of endless madness for bringing on the best of designers on the ramp. This year’s fashion week was a fusion of bridal collection with trendy pret to bring all that Pakistani Wedding season festivity on the ramp unlike previous fashion weeks which normally use to forecast chic fashion trends for the coming season. It was an extravagant event with all big fashionistas, designers, bloggers and celebrities being witnessed on the red carpet or on the ramp. Of all the participating designers in the Fashion Week, few designers caught everyone’s attention without any doubt.

Among some noteworthy collections on ramp was Shehla Chatoor’s Collection “All that Raj” which certainly ruled the ramp as the name says. Shehla opened the first day of the fashion week on ramp and stole everyone’s heart with her intricate detailing of work and embroidery patterns adding to her modern cuts a traditional look. She always likes to experiment with bold cuts which is her signature style. Her collection featured velvet cholis and crop tops with some trendy lehngas with pearls, crystals and silk thread work on it. Her best pieces was certainly the one worn by Ayesha Omer, the show stopper who stole the show with her elegant style on ramp. This piece also was a teal green velvet crop top with body hugging gold skirt embellished with pearls, crystals, and sequins.

Sana Safinaz brought all that drama on the ramp on Day 1 with their bold colors as it is the epitome of their luxury pret. Their collection has some loud hues and jeweled tones intricate with bullion thread work. They showcased printed pants, culottes, skirts and jackets in bold tones and juxtaposed with special embroidery techniques.

Day 2 of Fashion Pakistan Week was also jam packed with leading designers on the ramp and full of energy and vibrance that pulled out great shows on the ramp. Nida Azwer stole the show on Day 2 with her awe so amazing bridal wears. Her collection was titled “Mystical Garden” and as the name suggests, the collection drew captivation from the elements that one may finds in a garden or nursery, from butterfly to rabbit to grasshoppers and dragonflies. All these elements were interpreted in a fanciful manner in her bridal collection which made use of range of soft neutrals and pastel shades from lavender to orchid, to powder pinks and blues and silver and gold with hint of ash grey and metallic in luxe fabrics such as tissue, net, organza, chioffons and raw silk etcetera. In terms of silhouette, her collection was an experimentation of traditional cuts with modern day trends showcasing lenga choli, ghagra, angrakhas, crop tops, jackets, dhoti shalwar and saris. “Mystical Garden” has been embellished with the modern interpretation of old craft using zardozi, resham and kaamdani. She also worked on 3D embroideries, adding layers and dimensions to her traditional craft which is the latest trend in the Pakistani hand crafted fabrics.

On Day 2, Elan was another brand worth paying attention to. Elan once again showcased a luxury pret line including long capes, jackets and voluminous skirts which attracted everyone. Their collection was inspired by forest and nature showing an amalgamation of botany and zoology with loud botanical prints with birds and beetles. They made use of stones and crystals on prints making it rich with details. Their collection made an impression of dark forest catching ones eye with its elegance. Each piece was a beauty in itself which was awestruck to look at and thrilling to wear.

Day 3 of Fashion Pakistan Week once again saw the dominant celebrations of wedding bells on ramp with designers like Zaheer Abbas, Zainab Chottani, Umar Sayeed and Faraz Manan. Two of the most breath taking collections to be mentioned here are by the king and prince of Couture, Umar Sayeed and Faraz Manan respectively. Ho Mann Jahan star cast also walked the ramp for Umar Sayeed. Mahira Khan, Shehryar Munawar and Adeel Hussian dazzled the ramp and charmed the night with their appearance on ramp. Umar Sayeed Collection was rich in traditions with pearls jewelry and rich textiles that is his signature. His collection made use of shades of plum in addition to hot pink, peach, antique gold and dull gold. The gold work and detailing on each was what makes him the king of the Fashion industry for years.

Faraz Manan presented his collection named “IMPERIAL” as the name transcends beyond race, cultures and nationalities and not bound by era or time was unique and rich in style and identity. Faraz MAnan collection was a blend of the finest fabrics, French silks, brocade and organza with hues of gold peach, pink, red, blue silver and white. His collection was embellished with pearls, crystals and traditional embroidery. Imperial was designed for modern day woman who is confident, elegant and has a taste for fine things in life.
