PPP wins four out of 6 seats in Senate by-election

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Poeples Party (PPP) on Thursday grabbed four out of six vacant seats in Senate by-elections. 

PPP bagged two Senate seats from Sindh where his candidates Aslam Abro and Saifullh Dharejo emerged victorious with 58 and 57 votes, respectively. Total 124 votes were cast in Sindh Assembly while one of them was rejected by the presiding officer. 

PPP’s Abdul Quddu Bizenjo secured 23 votes to win one of three Senate seats from Balochistan while remaining two seat were bagged by PML-N’s Mir Dostin Domki and JUI-F Abdul Shakoor.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, the joint candidate of the ruling coalition, regained the Senate seat from the Islamabad by defeating Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Chaudhary Ilyas Mehrban. 

Out of the total 301 votes polled, Gillani bagged 204 votes, while his rival received 88 votes. Nine votes were rejected..
