Regional, global steps vital for rooting out terrorism: PM

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that regional and international steps were inevitable for weeding out terrorism and extremism, adding that Pakistan and Canada were united on the cause of global peace and stability and ongoing war against terrorism.

While talking to Canadian High Commissioner (HC) to Pakistan Ms Heather Cruden, who called on him at the PM House, Nawaz said Pakistan-Canada ties were founded on robust friendship and mutual respect. “Pakistan attachés much importance to its relations with Canada,” the premier said and added that Pakistan had also rendered unprecedented sacrifices in terms of life and finance in its war on terror.

He said that there was need to bolster cooperation in diverse fields and forging people to people contacts between the two countries. The cooperation being extended by the Canadian government in the energy and defence sectors to Pakistan was laudable, Nawaz added.

Ms Cruden terming the endeavors by Pakistan for elimination of terrorism commendable said that the prime minister has taken best steps to put a lid on extremist mindset and to take Pakistan on track to prosperity.
